Missing man, Chermside

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate a man missing from Chermside.

32-year-old James Kay was last seen yesterday afternoon leaving an RSL club in Chermside on foot on Kitty Hawk Drive but hasn’t been seen or contacted anyone since.

Police are concerned for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition which limits his communication and his behaviour is out of character.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 165cms tall and has a proportionate build, short brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a grey and black striped polo shirt, grey shorts and red shoes.

 
Anyone who may have seen him is being urged to contact police immediately.

Next NHW Update meeting Thu 5 May 2016

A reminder that the next Carseldine 6 NHW Update meeting will be held Thursday 5th of May at the Craigslea State School P&C Building at 7.30 pm.

The P&C building is situated at the rear of the school.

Car parking - please use the western car park near the swimming pool. You can then walk through the covered play area to the last building on the left.

Telstra refund scam

One of our NHW committee members received an email twice over the Easter holiday period appearing to come from Telstra and advising that due to a "system error" their account has been paid twice.

It then provides a link to click on in order to complete the claim to obtain the refund.

An example of the email is below.

Always be careful of any email that invites you to click on a link to obtain any sort of refund. If you have online access to your Telstra account, you can open a new browser window and manually go to the relevant Telstra website and login to check your account.

If you do not have online access to your Telstra account, you can look at the top of your last bill for the Billing Enquiries number and phone to check if any refund is due.

If somehow your bill had been paid twice, you would expect Telstra to just credit the account - you shouldn't have to click on a button and "claim" the refund.

To be safe, never click on any links within an unsolicited email.

Police warn of subpoena email scam

Police are warning people about a new email scam targeting internet users across Queensland today.

The scam involves victims opening an email which indicates they have broken the law and are being issued with a subpoena to attend court.

When users click on a link they are directed to a Russian webpage where they are prompted to download an executable application which infects their computer.

Policelink has received a substantial number of calls advising of the email scam occurring today.

Police are urging anyone who receives an unsolicited email with unusual or suspicious content not to click on any links or reply to the email but instead simply delete it from their inbox.

UPDATE - Missing boy - Chermside has been found

Queensland Police have reported that a 15-year-old boy reported missing from Chermside yesterday has been found safe and well and reunited with his family.

Another missing man - Chermside

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man reported missing from Chermside this morning.

74-year-old Vincent McDonnell was last seen around 11.00am when he left a health facility on Rode Road, Chermside on foot.

Mr McDonnell has not been in contact with his family and has not been seen since.

Police hold concerns for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition and his behaviour is out of character.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall, 100kg, with grey/white shoulder length hair, a distinct moustache and brown eyes.

He was wearing a grey t-shirt with black or grey long pants, and believed to be in possession of a red backpack and a walking stick.

 
Anyone who may have seen Mr McDonnell is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Missing man - Chermside

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 32-year-old man reported missing from Chermside since yesterday.

Scott Gordon Chant (pictured) left a Kingsmill Street address around 10.40am yesterday and has not made contact with family and friends since.

Police and family hold serious concerns for his well-being as he suffers from a medical condition and requires regular medication. He also left his phone and wallet at home.

Scott is Caucasian, about 180cm tall with a thin build, black shaven hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, grey jeans and no shoes.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on              1800 333 000.
