Getting rid of green waste and spoiled food

Our local Councillor, Cr Fiona King has advised that there will be a free green waste kerbside pickup from Monday (February 4) to help us clean up from the weekend’s wild weather.
Some of us in our NHW area were fortunate that the power came on the same day that our rubbish is collected and managed to put their spoiled food in their rubbish bin prior to collection. But for those that missed out and still need to dispose of spoiled food, the Council has also announced they are placing a number of skips around Brisbane to help with the immediate disposal of spoiled food.
A full list of skip locations is available by clicking here. The closest to our area is located at John Goss Park, Maundrell Tce.
Please respect the signs and only use these skips for food waste.
The Lord Mayor, Cr Graham Quirk has advised that transfer stations would also be free for both green and general waste dumping and hours would be extended until 9pm to accommodate the clean up.
He has advised that you just need to gather up any green waste, put it on the kerb outside your house and make sure you’ve got it out by Sunday night.
When cleaning up green waste please be careful of any hidden dangers such as fallen powerlines, wildlife or sharp objects such as garden stakes and wire.
