Take care – thieves are about!

Police have warned that break-ins are currently occurring in and around our area.

While only one is known to have occurred within our own NHW area (in Knutsford Street), there have apparently been at least a dozen break-ins over the last couple of weeks in the area across Hamilton Road and behind the schools.

While we are fortunate that our own little area is generally fairly safe, there is of course nothing to stop those responsible for the break-ins behind the schools crossing Hamilton Road to target our area.

So it highlights the importance of keeping our homes secure at all times, even when we are home.

Lock up doors and windows, even if just out in the garden (don’t forget to take the key with you!). Secure wheelie bins so they can’t be used to access higher-set windows or patios.

These criminals seem to be targeting the easy entries and leave the more secure sites alone, so keep security at a maximum and the crims will be more likely to move on to an easier target.

If you see anyone acting suspicious, you can contact Policelink on 131 444.

If a crime is in progress, call 000.
