UPDATE - Investigation finalised - re report of Chermside West serious assault of teenage girl


Police have advised that they now finalised an investigation after a report of an assault in Chermside West on January 23.

They state that investigating officers have conducted a full and extensive investigation and have determined that no further police action is required.

Brisbane police are appealing for public assistance after a teenage girl was dragged into bushes and assaulted at Chermside West on Wednesday afternoon (23 Jan 19).

The 16-year-old was walking on the footpath in Kittabilla Street, near the intersection with Craigslea Street, at around 12.15pm when a man walked up beside her.

The man placed his hand over the girl’s mouth and pulled her into nearby bushes. The girl struggled, kicking the man and managing to break free from his grasp and run off.

The man was last seen running in Buran Street, Chermside West.

He is described as Caucasian, aged possibly in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 185cms tall with a proportionate build and stubble on his face.

The man was wearing a black baseball cap, black framed sunglasses with orange reflector lenses, a white t-shirt and black baseball short.
